On Friday, August 27, 2004, the
George Sirian Meritorious Service Award was presented to Chief
Gunner’s Mate Brent Tidwell
by the USS Constitution Chapter of the Surface Navy Association (SNA) in
ceremonies aboard the historic frigate.
Tidwell, a vertical launching systems technician, was assigned to the USS Hue City (CG 66) at the time of the award. The fleet-wide award is given each year in George Sirian's honor to a Chief Petty Officer (CPO) in the Navy who exemplifies Surface Warfare excellence. The family was represented by George T. "Tom" Forbes, Capt. USN Retired, a great-great-grandson of George Sirian. More information about the award is available at: |
